Breast Health Program

Breast Health Program

Breast Health Program is a successful way to improve the health of women’s breasts and decrease the risk of breast cancer. The program identifies the risk of developing breast cancer based on patient's history, physical exam, and thermography. Further, the program implements therapies to decrease the risk which can be monitored with a physical exam and objectively with thermography.

Breast Thermography

Breast thermography is the first step for the enrollment into the program.

Thermography or infrared thermal imaging is a noninvasive, non-contact system of recording body temperature. It measures infrared radiation emitted by the body surface (breast). The temperature distribution detected by the camera represents areas of vasoconstriction or vasodilatation that reflect underlying pathology.

Many pain syndromes affect the autonomic nervous system and cause changes in skin blood flow that can be mapped by thermography. Also lymphatic congestion of the breast, fibrocystic breast disease, breast lumps, hormonal imbalance such as estrogen dominance cause characteristic temperature distribution on the breast skin that can be seen in thermography.

Underlying malignancy (cancer) cause formation of new blood vessels in the process know as angiogenesis and can also be detected by thermography.

Thermography vs Mammography

Mammography is X-ray of the breast. Is highly invasive because uses ionizing radiation and requires breast to be compressed. It detects calcifications that are often present in existing breast cancer but it does not identify the breast at risk. When repeated every year it also raises concern about its safety because X-rays can cause cancer themselves. There are growing concerns about effectiveness and safety of breast mammography in the medical community. At present, mammography is still considered to be the gold standard in detection of breast cancer.

Thermography detects tiny changes of the skin temperature that are often associated with early breast cancer or breast conditions that can lead to breast cancer. The technology is completely noninvasive and there is no radiation involved.

FDA regulates that the thermography is an adjunctive diagnostic screening for breast cancer and should not be used as a stand-alone screening method.

Treatment Program

In case your breast is identified to be at high risk of breast cancer, you would be enrolled in the program which will include:

  • Hormonal testing
  • Identification of factors leading to estrogen dominance
  • Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy if needed
  • Education and nutrition supplementation
  • Strengthening of the immune system
  • Improvement of lymphatic drainage with laser therapy and manual technique
  • Follow up on the results of exams and thermograph
